While founding The People's Education Society, on the 8h of July 1945, to
manage several educational institutions for the betterment of marginalized and
poor sections of Indian society that was historically denied the fruits of education,
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar said: “The Society's objective is not merely to give
education but to give education in such a manner as to promote intellectual,
moral and social democracy, This is what modern India needs today and this is
what all well wishers of India must promote.”
The educational institutions run by the Society established by Babasaheb has been instrumental in bringing vast changes in the Maharashtrian society and has been the harbinger of growth, equality and assertion for the erstwhile 'untouchables', Adivasis and other marginalized sections of our society. However more such efforts are required, especially in the educationally and economically backward areas of our state as the education is the sine qua non of the liberation of any community, especially the marginalized ones.
Keeping this in mind and with the inspiration of our beloved leader we formed
a Buddhist (Minority) education society under the banner of Subhedar Ramji
Ambedkar Education Society in 1992, Since then, with the objectives of
providing facilities for secondary, collegiate, technical, physical education and
the like and to establish, conduct educational institutions such as schools, colleges,
hostels, libraries etc., for the poor and marginalized sections, our society has been
running number of Buddhist (Minority) educational institutions in the two districts
of Vidarbha region namely Wardha and Yeotmal. These are:
Chetana D.Ed, B.Ed and M.Ed College at Sawangi, Wardha,
Subhedar Ramji Ambedkar Physical Education College, Hinganghat,Wardha,
Mahatma Phule College of Social Work, Yeotmal
Dr Ambedkar College of Social Work, Wardha
Since last two decades these institutions have been instrumental in providing opportunities for thousands of students from marginalized sections of our society, aspiring for the quality higher education, mostly from the rural background. These institutions have also been instrumental in propagating the noble teachings of Buddha, Mahatma Phule Shahuji Maharaj and Babasaheb Ambedkar, not only among the student community but among the masses too. We sincerely hope that our Educational Society continues to provide quality education and contribute not only towards improving the educational standards of our Vidarbha region, our state Maharashtra but towards building a nation of the dreams of our leaders, our icons.
